Who this course is for: 

The Beginners Drawing and Painting class is ideal for those with no prior experience, limited  experience or no confidence and want to start learning the basics and developing  confidence. 

Course Details: 

When was the last time you picked up a pencil or paint brush and tried drawing? Have you  always loved drawing but lacked the confidence to try? If yes, this course is for you. Students  will be guided through the fundamentals of drawing and painting, trying pencil, charcoal,  pastels, watercolour and acrylic paints.  

You will be taught basic compositional techniques, the colour wheel, proportions and  approaches to drawing. At the core of these classes is a fostering of confidence in a space  that is accepting and understands the mental benefits of drawing, painting and a curious,  creative practice.  

What you will gain from the course: 

• Increased drawing and painting confidence 

• The beginnings of a historical context to art practice 

• An experimental attitude to drawing and painting 

• Observational drawing skills 

What students need to bring: 

In your first session, bring a sketchbook and some pencils, rubber and pencil sharpener. You  will then be given a list of materials required. 

Tutor Information: 

Adam Hogarth is an artist living in Margate. Adam completed at BA Hons in Northumbria  University and an MFA in Fine Art Printmaking at The Royal College of Art. From 2016 to  2020 Adam was the Printmaking Fellow at The Royal Academy of Arts.  Adam has a wealth of academic and professional experience, working and exhibiting  alongside internationally recognised artists. He is currently a part time Fine Art Lecturer at  Medway School of Art.  

Adam’s teaching approach caters towards the needs of individuals with an emphasis on  nurturing a student’s individual voice.
