Thanet Para-Verse Team believe in an open and inclusive approach, offering accessible paranormal research, education, and events for all. We use folklore, local history, and paranormal themes as a way to spark conversation and build friendships. For some, these subjects are simply entertaining; for others, they are deeply meaningful. What unites everyone is the chance to meet people who listen without judgement and who share their curiosity about the unexplained.

Course: Paranormal Studies with Thanet Para-Verse  

Who can join this course: For adults with an interest in folklore, spirituality, or the paranormal.

Room is accessible with step-free access, accessible toilets on site.  Access throughout may include manual doors.  If you have any access needs or health considerations, please let the tutor know in advance so they can support your participation.  

Course Description: The course will be a short overview in several subject areas that are considered ‘Paranormal’.  We don’t aim this at the absolute beginner / completely unaware.  In our experience most attendees have a background in their own area of interests  We intend to present several distinct subjects and the intention is that the attendees can open their minds to broader aspects of the Paranormal, whilst remaining respectful to other attendees experience, knowledge and beliefs.  A unique aspect of this course is the experience of the lecturers both from formal scientific education to experiencer / spiritualist / parapsychology, with open minds who hope to add to your explorations into the paranormal.

What will you gain from this course:
The course will give the students more than a taster on 4-5 subject areas.   Students will be encouraged to interact with local groups / networking and online resources.  Students will receive a certificate. We hope the course will inspire confidence / sharing / research skills and Social Opportunities for those that attend. 

What students need to bring:  Pen / paper for their notes,   

There can be no digital recording, (including voice and video) of the sessions.  These are interactive meetings, with confidential information being shared in the group and in a safe space.

Karl’s Introduction.

I am a long-term believer due to experiences I have had throughout my life.  I have been a member of a Spiritualist Church and attended Psychic Development Courses.  I am a member of The Society for Psychical Research (SPR).  I believe almost anything is possible, I believe the supernatural is just the normal we don’t yet understand.  I work day to day with the general public, which often allows conversations with many people about their own personal paranormal experiences.  I am doing this course as I want to bring information to the listeners and perhaps hint at a new dimension of the topic that may be hasn’t been considered.  Very much hoping it will encourage attendees to research further themselves.  Working together seems to attract synchronicities, energising our interests and seeing where that takes us.

Bryn’s Introduction.

My interest in this course, I am not a believer, I have no conventional faith.  But I am open minded and I listen.  I don’t really mind what other people believe, providing it doesn’t hurt anybody.  Worked most of my professional life as a Scientist, encouraging better Science and better use of Scientific Methods.  Although I have experienced situations I can’t readily understand or explain; to me that is fascinating.  I have had a long-term interest in the paranormal / fringe sciences.  My personal opinion is that even if 99% of the paranormal proves untrue, that 1% -if understood- could change our universe.  Also a big Science Fiction fan and an amateur astronomer.  I very much have my own journey fuelled by my own curiosity.
